FEARLESS (TAYLOR'S VERSION) ALBUM REVIEW

Image
I don't know how it gets better than this, but Fearless (Taylor's Version) is here and I couldn't be more excited! To mark the beginning of her journey of re-recording her first six albums to re-claim ownership of her early work, she started with her record-breaking sophomore release of Fearless . In an interview with Republic Records, she said "Deciding on what album to re-record first was pretty easy for me. I always gravitated towards Fearless because I think that, as an album, it was a real coming-of-age. And I look back on that album and it fills me with such pride, and it was an album about hope, and lessons learned, and the effervescence of teenage youth and all that. What more fun than to go back and explore that?" In case you aren't caught up with why Taylor is re-recording her first six albums, I'll give a brief background. For the past few years, she has been very vocal about re-recording her first six albums as a way to reclaim ownership of h...

LANA DEL REY CHEMTRAILS OVER THE COUNTRY CLUB ALBUM REVIEW

Image
Chemtrails Over The Country Club is Lana Del Rey's seventh album, a highly anticipated follow-up to her release of Norman F*cking Rockwell! in 2019. Lana is one of my all-time favorite artists and one that I have always admired for her incredible talent of songwriting. She has made a groundbreaking impact in the music industry in so many ways since her debut album, Born To Die , was released in 2012. Her influence is truly unparalleled when it comes to both the alternative and pop music genres. I have been looking forward to the release of Chemtrails Over the Country Club ever since she officially announced it early last year and was so blown away by the beauty and depth of it when the album was finally released.  In it's entirety, Chemtrails shows a more personal and mature side of Lana, in a way that she hasn't shown before. While it incorporates the classic sound we know from her, Lana's talent is elevated in such a different way. A lot of her previous work focus...

2021 GRAMMYs: BEST OF THE NIGHT

Image
In a year that made us all feel more distant than ever, music continuously brought us together in such a powerful way. This year's Grammy Award ceremony was a beautiful celebration of the music that kept us connected and got us through 2020. This show was structured very different than the way it usually is in order to comply with social distancing and COVID guidelines, but this new format worked out really well and was one of the best award ceremonies I have ever seen. The music was the sole focus of the entire show, with few on-air award presentations, but instead with dozens of incredible musicians performing back-to-back throughout the night. Often award shows can feel very long and drawn out, but this year's ceremony was so entertaining all the way through. The audience was seated outdoors and was very limited, only the nominees in the upcoming category were present, and most of the performances were either pre-recorded or done inside with five circular stages that rotated...
