"Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus // Amazon Exclusive 7" red vinyl + Song Review

Even though Miley Cyrus herself didn't write "Party in the U.S.A." , it still largely mirrors much of her own experience moving from Tennessee to California to achieve the American Dream and feeling homesick as she tries to find her place in the new city. In doing so, it also captures so much of her signature personality as well and is what she called an "all-American song" in a 2010 interview with MTV News .  Since its release in 2009, the song has garnered an impactful legacy as one of the defining songs of Miley's career . In many ways, "Party in the U.S.A." had an interesting journey long before she ever recorded it. It was originally written with the intent of being included on Jessie J 's debut album, but she decided to not record it as it didn't align with the style she was going for at the time. The song was meant to share her culture shock of being a British transplant moving to Los Angeles, which reflected in much of the scrapped...

The Best Songs of March 2026 // New Music Friday!

"Carla's Song" by Harry Styles Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally  is here and it is such an incredible return to one of the defining artists of our time. One undeniable career highlight for Harry is the album's final track, "Carla's Song" . It's hard to even put into words how special this song is. It feels like a celebration of the music that shapes us and the people who enter our lives and change the way we listen, share, and connect. There's something so moving about the way he captures that exchange; how you show someone the songs you love, and they show you theirs, and suddenly your world is bigger because of it. It also feels like a beautiful reflection of the relationship between artist and listener, and the way he understands what his music represents to so many people right now in the moment, and also the ways in which this art will outlive all of us. As a closing track, it's powerful, emotional, and unlike anything I've hear...

20 Years of Hannah Montana! // Greatest Hits Vinyl + Anniversary Reflection

Image
My favorite rock star forever!  So much of my love for music, fashion, and pop culture as a whole stems from Hannah Montana , and that spark has only grown into a lifelong passion for all of those things. That fact truly cannot be overstated, as Miley Cyrus ' music has been such a big part of my life since I was six years old. She has lived so many lives as an artist since the show premiered in 2006, it has been so special to witness every single one and have her music continue to be such a constant through all of those years. To celebrate two decades since the show premiered feels like honoring the younger versions of ourselves who first fell in love with this world and all of the magic, music, and fantasy within it. This Hannah‑versary is also a reclamation of what has always belonged to her and is a true full‑circle moment amplified by the recent Disney+ special. No one else could have portrayed this character the way she did. Miley didn't just play a fictional pop star; sh...

2025 was yet another incredible year for new music! I narrowed it down to 30 of my favorite albums, spanning a wide range of artists and genres. Many of them are first‑time additions to my annual year‑end favorites list, which feels like a testament to how much I prioritized discovering and supporting new artists this year. Of course, there are some long‑time favorites sprinkled throughout, as well. Ultimately, this list reflects a little bit of everything I loved this year! This is always my favorite post to write and curate each year. It is loosely ranked, but every single one of these albums was truly the soundtrack of my year for one reason or another. I have covered many of them in depth too, so if you are interested in reading more about any of these, be sure to check out the links throughout the post and at the end. Enjoy! 💓 The Crux by Djo At its core, The Crux by Djo is a heartfelt ode to the people that have shaped him, along with his family and friends that have suppor...
