Take The Sadness Out of Saturday Night  is an album built on its contradictions; the divide between wanting a big life and wanting a secret life, finding ways to live alongside simultaneous hurt and hope, going from the shadow to the city and back again, and most of all, the desire to move forward while still feeling tied to all that has come before. With this album, Jack Antonoff sets out to make a project that is largely an examination of joy and the need for it, but also the doubt that comes with not understanding why you can't seem to hold onto it. As so many Bleachers records do, this album approaches those feelings in a way that shows how they shift and evolve through time. Jack Antonoff has been one of my favorite musicians for so many years, and recently I had the most incredible experience when I was invited to a special event in celebration of his band Bleachers' new album Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night in New York City! Not only is Bleachers one of my favorite bands ever, but I also absolutely love all of the different albums he has co-written and produced with artists like Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent and many others through the years. His music has truly become the soundtrack of my life ever since I was about 15 years old, so getting the chance to talk to him and be a part of such a special event like this is something I still can't believe actually happened!  About a week prior to this, Bleachers posted a link to submit questions to Jack on a Google Doc, so I filled it out not really thinking it would go anywhere, at the most I figured it would be answered in some kind of  Twitter or YouTube Q&A. The Terrible Thrills project was created as a concept by Jack Antonoff and his collaborators in 2010 to reimagine his band's music through the voices of a wide range of incredibly talented female artists. It began with Volume 1, with a collection of Steel Train songs reinterpreted and reshaped by some of the band's personal favorite musicians. The tradition continued with Bleachers for Volume 2, which featured new versions of Strange Desire in its entirety (which is so underrated), expanding the idea into this new chapter of his artistry.  In 2019, the project evolved again into a new format as an exclusive vinyl club series. Four songs were reimagined by incredible artists, paired with demos and alternate versions of tracks from Gone Now . I recently had one of the greatest experiences ever in New York City seeing Bleachers live at Radio City Music Hall! This was my first ever Bleachers concert, which felt extra special because it was also their first time headlining the iconic venue at their biggest NYC show yet! My dad surprised me with front row tickets earlier this year, which is something I still can't believe actually happened! I've been anticipating this show all year and it lived up to all of my expectations and then some!  I have loved Bleachers for years, the connection I have to their music is like no other.
