About Me

Hello! My name is Melissa Kacar and I am a graphic designer, writer and photographer from Pennsylvania. I have been posting regularly on my blog since July of 2017 and have since written over 100 articles sharing my love for topics such as music, beauty, and fashion. My original product and concert photography is also featured throughout each post. In the past 5 years I have been able to connect with thousands of people from around the world through our shared love of these topics.

In 2022, I received an Associate's Degree in Communication Design (New Media) from Northampton Community College and in 2020 I also received an Associate's Degree in Journalism, Media and Professional Writing. My graphic design and writing go hand-in-hand and each passion of mine benefits from the other, particularly when it comes to my love for editorial design. I have always had a love for all things creative and art-related, but I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer since I was about 11 years old when I started playing around with different editing apps on my phone seeing what designs I could create with my photography. 

Some of my strengths include editorial design, as well as designs used on promotional items such as posters, merchandise, etc. in both print and digital formats. An aspiration of mine is to work in the music industry creating promotional designs for artists. I have grown up being such a big fan of so many musicians and have been a regular consumer of different forms of media surrounding music ever since I was very young. Over the years, I have grown to have a broad understanding of how important design in the music industry is on a first-hand consumer basis. When it comes to my viewpoint as a designer, I can quickly see what design aesthetics work and which don’t work for that particular artist and their targeted fan base. That perspective of being a fan and having that personal level of connection to the work will help me immensely when it comes to creating designs to coincide with an artist’s music and vision.

In my art, I find myself often mixing current digital design trends with the principals of contemporary pop artists. I am greatly inspired by pop culture, music and fashion – all of which are recurring themes in my work. My style is simple, colorful, and often incorporating high contrasting black and white elements. I have experience with using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and more. I am very hard-working and able to quickly adapt to new programs and design styles.

Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt // Newbury Comics Exclusive Rainbow Vinyl

Tragic Kingdom is the hit breakthrough album by  No Doubt , released in 1995 to widespread critical acclaim. Blending a mix of pop, punk, rock and ska, it was a groundbreaking album for the music landscape of the mid-90's and instantly became a timeless classic. It was the band's third album together, which differed quite a bit from their first two lesser-known records, partly because of the interpersonal drama within the lives of the members at the time. For the first time, No Doubt's music was mainly written from the perspective of the band's frontwoman  Gwen Stefani . This album was just the start of Gwen becoming the major force in pop music that she was for much of the next decade to follow. Her song " God is a Woman " is also so iconic and one of my all-time favorites, so that made me look forward to it even more. I have been using it consistently for several months so I will able to give the most in-depth review I possibly can of this product. SAFIYA NYGAARD x COLOURPOP COLLECTION REVIEW 🦇♥

For my first post of  the new year, I wanted to share my thoughts on one of my favorite makeup releases, the Safiya Nygaard x Colourpop collection ! Safiya is one of my favorite YouTubers and Colourpop is my favorite makeup brand, so this is a really exciting collaboration!  Safiya consistently makes a variety of really high quality and interesting videos that mainly focus on beauty and fashion. I admire how much time and research she puts into what she does, all of the work that is put into these videos really shows in the finished product. If you haven't watched her channel before, I really can't recommend it enough!  In August 2017, she started a series called " bad makeup science ", which is the basis of this new Colourpop lipstick collection. Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves // Album Review

Deeper Well  by Kacey Musgraves sounds like the first blossoming of spring after a long, cold winter. An aspect that shines the most within this music is her talent for sweet and simple songwriting. Every song is very rooted in nature and uses vivid imagery to paint such a stunning, honest and reflective portrait of this current phase of her life. The production is very stripped-back on most of these tracks, with the focus mainly on her vocals and lyricism. This is among her most introspective work yet, chronicling her inner-most thoughts and emotions from where she last left off in 2021 with  star-crossed . She worked on this album primarily in New York City at Electric Lady Studios , which is an environment that played into her wanting to make a softer, more subdued album this time.
