MILK MAKEUP LIP + CHEEK STICK REVIEW

The Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Stick is the perfect two-in-one cream product! This is formulated to be used on the cheeks as a luminous blush, or as a hydrating tinted lip balm.

I got this product as a free gift from Sephora last year, but I have been wanting to purchase it for so long before that! I have always been drawn to the clean, minimalistic design of Milk Makeup's products, and this product has been the perfect introduction to the brand! All of Milk's products are cruelty free, vegan, and gluten free. It is also a Clean brand, meaning it is formulated without many potentially harmful ingredients commonly found in cosmetics including; sulfates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and more. This is also formulated with mango butter, avocado oil, and apricot oil, which are meant to hydrate the skin and help the formula blend seamlessly.

I have the mini size in the shade "Werk", which retails for $18 at Sephora. To anyone looking to purchase any of the cream sticks they sell, I would definitely recommend opting for the mini over the full size. Even though it's a mini, it has so much product in it that it would likely take a few years of consistent use for me to completely use it all up. A little bit goes a long way with this! The smaller size also makes it easier for a more targeted and precise application, especially on the lips. The full size sticks they sell (which are $30) are technically a better value monetarily, but are so much more bulky and would likely expire before being able to finish the entire stick. The mini cream sticks Milk Makeup sells are so functional and perfect to take on the go or store in your makeup bag! I love that Milk Makeup sells mini versions of a lot of their bestsellers, because it gives you the option to try new products, without having to commit to a more expensive full sized version.

When I'm getting reading for my Zoom classes in the morning, I usually only have a few minutes to get ready, so this is always my go-to product when I need something quick and easy to put on. I apply a swipe of it on both of my cheeks and dab a bit of it on my lips and blend it all out with my fingers. It's so easy to blend that you don't even need a mirror!

My favorite way to use this product is as a cream blush on the cheeks. It gives such a radiant and natural glow to cheeks, and adds the perfect amount of pigment and glow to brighten up your face. If you're into the "no makeup makeup" look, than this is the blush for you! Also, if you have dry skin like I do, than I'm sure you'll also be into the dewy look it gives to the cheeks. It is a satin finish, and doesn't fully dry down in the way similar blushes I've tried do. It stays slightly tacky on the face, but it isn't heavy or sticky. I personally don't find it to be too noticeable, but if it bothers you, it goes away when applying powder on top.

If you apply it directly from the stick, it could potentially move around the makeup underneath - if this happens to you with any cream product, I would recommend to use a brush instead for an easier blend. I only wear a minimal amount of concealer on the face, so I don't necessarily run into this problem, but that is one of the most common complaints users have with cream base products.

It is quite a sheer formula, especially once it's blended out on the face, but they do have a good range of shades that would be able to work for many skin tones. The shade "Werk" would likely work best as a blush on fair to medium skin tones. If you're looking for something more pigmented and long-wearing, but still lets you achieve a natural look, I would recommend checking out the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush or the Flower Beauty Blush Bomb instead.

When applied to the lips, it reminds me of Maybelline's Baby Lips, which used to be one of my original favorite makeup products to use when I was younger! The shade I have gives a subtle pinkish peach tint to the lips, which would also compliment a range of skin tones. The pigment can be built up for a more opacity, but I usually prefer the sheer look with this product. Since it is such a light formula, it does wear off quite easily, but this it is so easy to touch-up throughout the day. I also love the way it layers with lip liner and gloss too!

I love how quick and easy the application is for both the blush and lipstick aspect of this product! It gives such a radiant glow to the cheeks and lips, which would be such a flattering look for everyone! This is my first time trying Milk Makeup, but this was such a wonderful introduction to what the brand has to offer. If you're into light, dewy makeup then this product is for you!
