"BLUE" // Billie Eilish Words can't express how much I've been loving Billie Eilish 's latest album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT this month. Dare I say it's my favorite album of the year already!? Every single song is so incredible, and it was so hard to choose just one favorite, but for the sake of this list I went with the incredible ending track "BLUE". I was literally transcending the first time I heard this song, it's so rare to have an experience like that while listening to music. The first part of the song blends the chorus of a song called "True Blue", a previously unreleased demo from Billie's early career, while also lyrically connecting every single song from the rest of the album together at once. About mid-way through, the song switches up again into an ethereal and emotional ballad. It perfectly closes out the album.   "The Tortured Poets Department" // Taylor Swift The entirety of  The Tortured Poets Department is such a masterpiece, I can't even begin to express how incredible it all is! It's honestly still too overwhelming to even narrow down my favorite songs from the album so far and I have so many thoughts to share about it in my upcoming review. Until then, I thought it was fitting to first highlight the title track. It both captures the deep, raw emotions she was feeling at this moment in time, but also incorporating the hints of humor that are present throughout the entire album. 2024 was such an exciting year for new music! From long-time favorites to new discoveries, this list includes a little bit of everything. It's been such a fun year to be a fan of all these amazing artists and I can only imagine what 2025 will bring next. This is always one of my favorite posts to write at the end of every year, I love getting to look back on all of the artists that were the soundtrack of my year. It feels like there was a period of time from around March through July that was stacked with back-to-back new music every single week from all of the best artists out right now. It's been such a fun year to be a fan of all these amazing artists and I can only imagine what 2025 will bring next.  This list is loosely ranked, but these are the truly the best of the best from 2024.
