The Best Songs of August 2023 // New Music Friday!

Image
"Chinatown (Live at Radio City Music Hall)"// Bleachers & Bruce Springs t een Getting to see Bleachers live at Radio City Music Hall last year was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life and I can't believe that it is forever immortalized in this new live album! It is truly so emotional for me to listen to this album and get to relive this night over and over. Not only was it my very first full Bleachers concert, but I was also lucky enough to be in the front row with my dad for the show too! It was such an incredible experience; it's hard to even put into words how much this night and their music means to me. Every single song they played that night was absolutely incredible and the live arrangements were so different than the studio versions. There of course were countless incredible moments throughout the night, but a major highlight was when they brought out Bruce Springsteen to perform "Chinatown" live for the first time together! That...

2022 GRAMMYs: BEST OF THE NIGHT

Image
After a few months of delays, the 64th annual Grammy Awards were finally held in Las Vegas over the weekend. This year's show celebrated so much of the amazing music that has been released in the past year. Each category was really stacked with great releases, making it impossible to predict who would've ultimately won. The show overall didn't feel like it had as many memorable moments like it has in the past, especially in comparison to last year's show , but there were still some highlights that were worth sharing, both from the red carpet and the show itself.  The show opened with a performance by Silk Sonic, which is made up of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, with their song "777". They were some of the most notable winners of the night, winning both Song of the Year and Record of the Year for "Leave The Door Open". In their acceptance speech, Anderson said, "We are really trying to remain humble at this point, but in the industry we call th...

Festival Edition Vinyl of Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd by Lana Del Rey

Image
In celebration of Lana Del Rey 's legendary return to Coachella , this time headlining the first day of the festival, she released a special limited edition vinyl variant of her latest album , Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd . In person, 100 copies were available each weekend of the festival, but it was also widely sold on her webstore for those that couldn't attend the show, like myself. This special edition features alternate album artwork and an exclusive translucent orange vinyl pressing. The design of this festival release is so well done, I love the groovy, psychedelic illustrated effect on the original cover photo, as well as the overlays on the back cover and gatefold. It is so colorful and matches the festival's aesthetic so well. I love having this tangible piece of her artistry in my record collection to celebrate such a major milestone in her career! I have talked about how much I love this album so many times, it was both my top album of...

MET GALA 2024 // Best Dressed

Image
It's the First Monday in May , which means it is fashion's biggest night out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Met Gala ! The theme for this year's exhibition is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion", which blends nature and technology into the art of preserving fragile archival pieces spanning hundreds of years. I always look forward to visiting The Costume Institute's new exhibits every year at The Met and I am looking forward to visiting this one soon! It is made up of 250 timeless pieces from The Met's archive that are too fragile to ever be worn again, which are aptly being called "sleeping beauties". With this exhibit, The Met is putting an emphasis on the convergence of rebirth, renewal, and the preservation of the fashion.  The theme of the red-carpet event that celebrates the opening of the exhibition is "The Garden of Time," which is based off of a short story from 1962 by author J.G. Ballard. Vogue best summarized th...
