"ME!" by Taylor Swift featuring Brendon Urie // 5 Year Anniversary Song Review & Limited Edition Vinyl Picture Disc

Image
"ME!" was released as the lead single off of Taylor Swift 's seventh album,  Lover , which in many ways represented a fresh start for her in her career. For better or worse, it also remains among the most divisive, but important, songs in Taylor's discography for many reasons. It's hard to believe it's already been five years since it's release - since then she has put out a total of nine albums and counting, which is crazy to think about. Clearly a lot has happened in those years and it felt like the perfect time to look back on this interesting blip in Taylor's catalog.  "ME!" is definitely a cute and uplifting song, meant to be a celebration of self-love and confidence. I appreciate the positivity and the sentiment behind making a song like this. With the  Lover  album celebrating every kind of love, it was really fitting for there to be a song about loving yourself on it like this, as cliché as it may be at times. When she announced the s...

Lover: Live From Paris by Taylor Swift // Heart Shaped Vinyl

Image
Lover: Live From Paris  was recorded in September of 2019 at Olympia Theater in Paris, France - which stands as Taylor Swift 's only full-length concert performance of this album at the time it was released. What a more fitting place than in the City of Love! Lover , which was written as a love letter to love itself, represented a fresh start and the first page in a new chapter of her career. The recording of the performance was released in May 2020 as a Disney+ special called  Taylor Swift: City of Lover , along with the live album on streaming platforms. Only eight of the songs she performed that night are on this album, which excludes every other song she sang from her other albums at the show.  It is such an incredible performance, some of the live versions from this album I actually prefer to the original studio versions. The live version of "Death By A Thousand Cuts" in particular is an all-time career highlight, there is just so much passion and emotion in her...

"Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" // Taylor Swift Words can't describe how much I love 1989 and I've been anticipating the release of Taylor's Version ever since she announced the re-recording of her first five albums. Now that it's finally here, it is better than I could've ever imagined! I can't wait to share my full  1989 (Taylor's Version)   review soon because it is absolutely incredible in every way! I have been loving all of the tracks newly-released From the Vault , especially the final song, "Is It Over Now?" It details the ups and downs she experienced at this time in her life as she wonders if her relationship is really done. It is so catchy, brutally honest and fits so well with the rest of the album. It draws many parallels to songs like "Style" and "Out Of The Woods". Plus, she's so real for threatening to jump off a building over a certain British boybander - iykyk.  ...

Lover by Taylor Swift // 5 Year Anniversary Album Review 🩷

Image
I've loved you five summers now honey, but I want em all! Taylor Swift 's seventh album Lover represented a fresh start and the first page in a new chapter of her career. In the album's foreword, Taylor wrote the thesis behind Lover ; "I've decided that in this life, I want to be defined by the things I love - not the things I hate, the things I'm afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. Those things may be struggles, but they're not my identity. I wish the same for you." This album is a love-letter to love itself in every form. Throughout the eighteen songs, her longest album up to that point, she writes about all of the "captivating, spellbinding, maddening devastating red, blue, gray, golden aspects of it". Although now five years removed, much of her feelings surrounding the time that inspired it have likely changed, nothing can take away the pure love and joy she was expressing when she was making it. When musi...
