The Best Songs of March 2026 // New Music Friday!

"Carla's Song" by Harry Styles

Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally is here and it is such an incredible return to one of the defining artists of our time. One undeniable career highlight for Harry is the album's final track, "Carla's Song". It's hard to even put into words how special this song is. It feels like a celebration of the music that shapes us and the people who enter our lives and change the way we listen, share, and connect. There's something so moving about the way he captures that exchange; how you show someone the songs you love, and they show you theirs, and suddenly your world is bigger because of it. It also feels like a beautiful reflection of the relationship between artist and listener, and the way he understands what his music represents to so many people right now in the moment, and also the ways in which this art will outlive all of us. As a closing track, it's powerful, emotional, and unlike anything I've heard expressed in this way before through music. It's the perfect conclusion to a record that's been a long time coming.

"All I Did Was Dream of You" by beabadoobee & The Marías

"All I Did Was Dream of You" is such a stunning and ethereal new collaboration from beabadoobee and The Marías, although I'd expect nothing less from either of them. The way their voices and distinct styles blend together with such a natural chemistry is so beautiful.

"Younger You" by Miley Cyrus

"Younger You" feels like Miley's final ode to her younger self in so many ways and specifically the character that shaped so many of us. Featured in the 20th anniversary special of Hannah Montana earlier this month, this song captures such a deep, heartfelt nostalgia that perfectly represents the journey she has been on for the past two decades and the memories that will forever live on in the music. Miley will always be the best and this was such a special way to honor all the younger versions of ourselves that we will always carry with us.

"dirty wedding dress" by Bleachers

"dirty wedding dress" is the second single off of Bleachers' upcoming album Everyone For Ten Minutes, which feels like an anthem for the people who are here for the music and only the music. It tells the story of Jack's wedding and the chaos it caused in the town, but at its core its about the deep love that truly defined that day. It's sharply written and very diaristic in the approach he takes with the conversational storytelling. Their album is among my most anticipated of the year and I'm so excited to hear it so soon! I also am going to be seeing Bleachers live at Madison Square Garden again this summer, which I couldn't be more excited for! 🍅

"What You Want" by Angéle & Justice

Earlier this month I discovered https://www.melissakacar.com/search?q=Justice's music and was so pulled in by the atmosphere they create within their music. Their new song featuring Angèle immediately stood out as a highlight of the best aspects of their work. The production is so dynamic, and the blend of French and English is incredibly captivating over their electronic, club‑driven sound that brings their music to life. Angèle delivers such a sultry, effortless performance that fits perfectly within Justice's signature sound.

"Back in Love" by Suki Waterhouse

"Back in Love" is such a bright and cheerful burst to welcome the start of Spring. It beautifully captures the feeling of having a reignited lust for life and falling in love. There is so much joy and optimism intertwined with her performance and the overall message of the song. I hope this is apart of a larger project coming soon, I'm always looking forward to hearing more from Suki!

"Alone" by Carly Hann

If her name isn't familiar yet, her voice absolutely is - Carly Hann is the ethereal presence behind the unforgettable bridge on The 1975's "About You". She has now ventured into her first solo project, with her debut EP set to be released this spring. Produced by Adam Hann, her husband and The 1975's guitarist, "Alone" is so gorgeous vocally and a perfect introduction to her sound as a solo artist. I am really looking forward to hearing more from her soon!

"Porch Light" by Noah Kahan

"Porch Light" is rooted in Noah's incredible talent for storytelling and his ability to build a world within his music that feels so grounded and honest. I can already tell that his upcoming album is going to be something so special, and I am so excited to hear more of it soon.

"Dinner Party" by Niall Horan

"Dinner Party" is such a warm and romantic ode written about the moment Niall met his now-fiancée for the very first time. It serves as such a beautiful introduction to his upcoming album of the same name, which is set to be released this summer. It captures their initial spark and the origins of their love story in such a vivid way, setting the tone for so much of the music that is surely to come!

"The Book of Love" by Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia's cover of The Magnetic Fields' 1999 song "The Book of Love" is featured as the final track of War Child's charity compilation record, with proceeds going toward their humanitarian work for children affected by war and conflict. It is an absolutely beautiful song that she brings to life in a way no other could.

"Dryspell" by Kacey Musgraves

"Dryspell" is a cheeky lead single off of Kacey Musgraves' forthcoming new album Middle of Nowhere, tapping into her country roots with a song that is full of her signature wordplay and humor.

"New York (Live From Royal Albert Hall)" by St. Vincent

St. Vincent released a new live album this month commemorating her 2025 Royal Albert Hall performance for BBC Proms, where she teamed up with conductor, arranger, and orchestrator Jules Buckley to reimagine some of her best work. "New York" in particular is breathtaking, it will always be one of my favorite songs ever and this arrangement only makes me love it even more!

"Devil You Know" by Maya Hawke

"Devil You Know" is the lead single from Maya Hawke's upcoming album and it is such a beautiful showcase of her talent for storytelling. It is deeply intimate and personal, as so much of her best work is.

"The Best" by Conan Gray

"The Best", the first song off of the upcoming deluxe edition of Conan Gray's 2025 album Wishbone, is such a beautiful continuation of the world he built within this era of his music. I'm looking forward to hearing even more with the rest of the extended album!

"Perfect Hand (Power Snatch Version)" by Power Snatch

Power Snatch, the new side project by Hayley Williams and collaborator Daniel James, released a new cover of Lorelei's "Perfect Hand". Hayley is an artist that can truly do no wrong for me and I love this song and their new interpretation of it.

"Might Just Take The Oor" by Javier Reyes

I've always loved Javi's music with Post Animal and Djo, and it's been so fun diving into his solo work alongside everything else he's a part of. He is so talented and this new single is beautiful!

"Hanging Out To Dry" by Florence Road

One of my new favorite discoveries of the year so far is Florence Road and their new EP Spring Forward. "Hanging Out To Dry" stands out as a highlight, their writing is so beautiful and every single song I've heard from them so far is so emotive and beautifully performed.
