The Best Songs of January 2023 // New Music Friday!

Image
Happy New Year! To kick off 2023, this is a list of my favorite songs released in the past month.  "Flowers" // Miley Cyrus New year, new Miley! She is back and better than ever with the first single off of her highly anticipated eighth album, Endless Summer Vacation . "Flowers" is an empowering anthem of self-love, with a melody and chorus that is so infectious. It has more of a disco sound to it in comparison to Plastic Hearts '  80's glam rock sound. Miley is an artist that is always evolving and reinventing her sound with each new release, so I'm really looking forward to hearing what she has in store for the rest of the album! Check out my full review of Endless Summer Vacation here!  "OWN MY MIND" // Måneskin The opening track of Måneskin's latest album, RUSH!, is the best song I have heard from them yet. This is one of the stand-out moments from the album where they seem to be at their most confident in what they want the sound of...

My Favorite Albums of 2022

Image
2022 was yet another great year for music! This list is made up of a mix of artists that are long-time favorites as well as many new discoveries across a range of genres. This is always my favorite post to write every year, I love looking back at all of the great art that was released in the past year and sharing some of the highlights with you. Several of these albums I also wrote dedicated long-form reviews for, which are linked throughout if you are interested in reading more! Harry's House // Harry Styles Harry Styles delivered yet another incredible release that easily is my favorite album of the year. "Imagine it’s a day in my house or a day in my mind. What do I go through? I’m playing fun music. I’m playing sad music. I’m playing this, I’m playing that. I have doubts. I’m feeling stuff. And it’s all mine," Harry said in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music earlier this year. Harry's House was the perfect next step for Harry and is a great evolution t...

5SOS5 // 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER ALBUM REVIEW

Image
5SOS5 is 5 Seconds of Summer 's fifth studio album, one that marks a new creative era for the band over a decade into their career. It is very obvious that they had more creative freedom while making this album than some of their previous releases, with it being largely self-written, produced and performed by every member of the band for the first time. I have been a huge fan of 5SOS since their debut album was released in 2014 and I have truly loved seeing how much their artistry has grown and evolved since that time. Just when I think they have reached their peak with an album like Youngblood or with CALM , they always find a way to come back even better than before. The progression of their sound and style has always been very natural and has done nothing but improve since their debut album. In many ways,  5SOS5 actually feels like a more mature version of their debut album, as if they are reintroducing themselves to their audience as the band they are today. I also love that th...

ABOUT FACE BY HALSEY // REVIEW

Image
About Face is a makeup brand founded by Halsey , which is marketed as "multi-dimensional makeup for everyone, for everywhere, for every way" and all products are vegan, clean and cruelty-free. Celebrity makeup brands are so common now, but About Face has always stood out to me for their unique approach to beauty and self-expression. Halsey has also been one of my favorite artists for years, so I was excited to see her create a brand that feels like such a natural extension of her own distinctive artistic style that shines through in every aspect of About Face. There is such an emphasis on empowerment and experimentation, so there are many products and colorful shades that are so unique to About Face that I haven't seen from other brands before.  There are so many products that caught my eye from their range, but for my first purchase I went with staple products that I knew I would use every day. I purchased the Fractal Glitter Dust, Light Lock Lip Gloss and the Light Lock...
