    I haven't taken a deeper look at all the looks from the VMAs. I've only seen a few. Shawn Mendes's suit is such a great contrast. Huge thumbs up for that. Thanks for sharing your favorite looks!

She sings about throwing an entire party with the hopes that just the one person she wants to see the most will be there - a very Gatsby theme that she translated so well into this song. "Sally, When The Wine Runs Out" by Role Model // Song Review

Role Model , which is the stage name for artist Tucker Pillsbury, has been a steadily rising indie artist for the past few years, with his 2024 sophomore album Kansas Anymore serving as his first major breakthrough of his career. Much of the album is a blend of pop, folk, and country music, which is a growing trend in music in recent years, as well as a departure from the sound of much of his 2022 debut album. Kansas Anymore is a really great album, I can't believe it took me this long to listen to it in its entirety. It feels reminiscent of artists like Noah Kahan , Phoebe Bridgers , and Niall Horan , which is fitting since he worked with some of the same collaborators throughout. His voice has also always reminded me so much of Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood , they share a similar soft tone that is very distinct to both of them as vocalists and songwriters. "No One Noticed" by The Marías // Song Review

"No One Noticed" by The Marías explores themes of longing for human connection and isolation in the digital age, while yearning for someone to finally see her the way a lost love once did. Lamenting for the past and what could have been she sings, "No one tried to read my eyes," she sings in the second verse, "No one but you, wish it weren't true". This song poignantly captures the distinct sense of isolation that comes from being surrounded by room full of people, yet still feeling completely alone, as well as the notion that others may never fully grasp the depth of your inner thoughts and struggles in those moments. It was featured as the eleventh track on The Marías' 2024 sophomore album,  Submarine ,  which was one of my favorite new music discoveries from last year. "Wait A Minute!" by Willow is such a captivating and introspective song, one that continues to stand out as a highlight from her early work. This song effortlessly blends experimental neo-funk sounds with emotional complexity. Wanting to stop and reflect for a moment amidst a chaotic situation, "Wait A Minute!" gives honest insight into her thoughts on growing up, falling in love and exploring her spirituality. The ethereal and atmospheric production, paired with her engaging vocal delivery really makes this song so memorable. "California" by Joni Mitchell // Song Review

Joni Mitchell wrote "California" all over the world, each verse was written in a different country and vividly depicts both the physical and emotional place she was at in those moments. From France, to Spain, to Greece, she writes a travelogue of her time in each country, but continuously wishes she were home in California instead. "Sitting in a park in Paris, France, reading the news and it sure looks bad," Joni sings in the opening lines of the song. "They won't give peace a chance, that was just a dream some of us had". She wrote this song in a very conversational, stream-of-consciousness style. Her talent for storytelling is like no other, her writing is so vivid and detailed that allows the listener to be transported right to the setting of the song.
