COLOURPOP x DISNEY DESIGNER COLLECTION REVIEW

For the last few weeks, I've been using the new products I bought from the new Colourpop Disney Designer collection and wanted to share my review of them!

I love Colourpop and Disney, so I was very excited when they announced their collaboration! I love that it's a modern take on the classic princesses' styles. Everything about this collection, from the packaging, shade selections, and shade names are so detailed and well thought out. I can see how much work went into making this a reality!

It's a Princess Thing // Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette // $20

This is one of the products that caught my eye when I first saw this collection. To start off, the packaging is so beautiful and detailed in every aspect. The cover of the palette has the 6 princesses illustrated in their reimagined designer dresses. The design of it is so spot on to fit their individual styles in the modern day. The inside has all of the princess' signatures embossed in gold, which adds such a nice touch, as well. I didn't include a picture of it, but the box it came in was also a reflective gold with the same design.

I love Colourpop's pressed powder eyeshadow formula, all of the shades are consistent with the quality of their other palettes I've tried. I used every shade several times, in order to give the most in-depth review of each one. Every single one stayed on a very long time with no creasing, fading, or flaking. If you ever tried any of the brand's other palettes, it is on-par with the quality of those.

Chip: matte soft beige nude
Juju: matte warm rosy pink
Grumpy: matte dusty salmon
Triton: sand with a golden sheen
Abu: matte intense warm brown
Prince Charming: ivory pearl with a green duo chrome
Ray: metallic champagne
Fairy Godmother: metallic bright coral
One Kiss? metallic bright coppery gold
Thingamabob: vibrant metallic sliver
Enchanted Rose: rich metallic rose
Poison Apple: metallic pinky violet
Magic Carpet: blackened plum
Beast: warm brown topped with gold glitter
Midnight Curfew: black sprinkled with solved glitter

A lot of the shades in the first row are quite similar and I would've loved seeing more colorful ones instead of basically 6 variations of the same light brown/pink. They are all good quality and blend really well, but I don't think all of them are necessary.

The shade "Juju" is a beautiful pale pink shade that's actually pigmented. I know pastel shades are hard to formulate and often look chalky and hardly show up, but this one isn't like that for me (I hope Colourpop makes an all pastel palette one day!). The other shades that I like in this row are "Grumpy" and "Abu". Every time I used this palette, I always started my look off by mixing these two shades together to put in the crease. They compliment every shade in the palette nicely. The shade "Triton" is very similar to these shades, except it is a satin finish with a hint of glitter in it. I personally would've loved to have seen a different shade in place of this one to avoid repetition.

I don't get much use out of the shade "Chip" because I typically don't use cream shades, but it is very good quality if you use something like this regularly. It makes a nice base for eyeshadow primer or as a shade to help blend out other shadows.

At first I didn't like how the first 3 shades in the second row applied, but the more I used the palette I figured out how they worked best. The shade "Prince Charming" works best for me as a face highlight - if you saw the new Kylie Cosmetics Halloween collection, its the exact same shade as the highlighter! I have fair skin, but I think it would work on a variety of skin tones. I've been using this as a highlight every day since I figured out that trick!

The shades "Ray" and "Fairy Godmother" are the other two that I initially didn't like as much, but now I love them. I found that they work best when applied with your finger instead of a brush because they are more sheer and crumbly than the other shades. I have loved using "Ray" all over the lid with "Fairy Godmother" in the middle for a pop of shimmery coral. I also used "Fairy Godmother" as a face highlight, too and it looked really nice!

My favorite shades are "One Kiss?" and "Thingamabob", both of which have a different finish than the rest in the palette. The others are more of a satin metallic finish, whereas these are brighter and more vibrant. These can be applied with your finger, or with a brush and it has the same amount of color payoff. Bright metallic silvers are kind of hard to find and are rarely in palettes, so I'm glad they included it (the name is so cute too!).

I love the shades "Enchanted Rose" and "Poison Apple" too, but I would've liked it to be more vibrant like the formula I just mentioned. These work best applied with your finger rather than a brush - it is much easier to build up the pigment this way.

I didn't expect to like "Magic Carpet" as much as I do, since I don't tend to gravitate towards darker shades like this. Sometimes dark eyeshadows can be too pigmented and easy to mess up - but "Magic Carpet" it very buildable and blendable. It compliments a lot of the other shades in the palette really well, too.

The last 2 shades in the bottom row are matte topped with glitter. This may sound kind of odd to mix glitter into regular matte shadows, but I think it's just for the aesthetic of it in the pan because the glitter really doesn't show up once applied. The dark brown shade "Beast" is one of my favorites - it blends so well and is the perfect tone of brown, in my opinion. I don't ever use black eyeshadow, but "Midnight Curfew" was easy to apply and blend out when I used it.

Overall, I really enjoy this palette and think it's great quality. I personally didn't have any shades like these already, so it makes a nice addition to my collection. If these shades are up your alley or you're a Disney fan like I am - then I definitely think it's worth getting! I have two other Colourpop palettes ("Yes, Please!" & the My Little Pony collaboration from last year) and I found that they work great in combination with those shades, as well. I would've loved to see a bit more colorful shades included in this one - such as a bright turquoise or a metallic purple - but other than that I think the shade selection is beautiful and a great value.

Super Shock Shadow // $5

Colourpop's Super Shock Shadows are my absolute favorite product that Colourpop sells. If you never tried one, I think its an absolute essential from the brand. Even if you don't like any from this Disney collection, there are tons of other shades to choose from the permanent range. I use at least one of these nearly every time I wear eyeshadow.

I apply them just using my finger, which I found gives the best color payoff. This is a great product to use if you don't have time to do your eyeshadow, but still want a wash of color on your lids. It takes me seconds to just swipe this on my lids.

The shade I bought from the collection is called "So This Is Love", which is a soft pink with a frosted finish. It is a beautifully brightening shade that is perfect for every occasion.

The lid has a golden print of Cinderella's castle, which adds such a fun touch to the packaging.

Crème Lux Lipstick // $7

This is the first time I ever tried this product from Colourpop, I tried their Ultra Satin and Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks before and really enjoyed those, so I had high hopes for their Lux Lipsticks too. There are 6 different lipsticks to choose from, one for each princess included in this collection. It's supposed to be an exact shade replica of the lipstick that princess wore (except for Ariel, for some reason - it isn't red like she wore in the movie, but instead a peachy shade).

The packaging once again is so beautiful - each box has a portrait of the princess that lipstick is named after and the actual tube of lipstick is in gold packaging with signatures of all the princesses on it. It is also quite heavy and feels like a high end lipstick.

I bought 2 shades; Snow White & Belle.

I love red lipstick and Snow White, so I was so excited to get that shade. It is a beautiful candy apple red, that would look beautiful on every skin tone. Like I mentioned earlier, I never tried any Lux Lipsticks from Colourpop, but I was so surprised with how long wearing it is. I had it on for hours and hours and it looked like I just put it on. It doesn't bleed outside of the lip line and didn't need a reapplication throughout the day. It felt so smooth on the lips and didn't accentuate any dryness like other matte lipsticks can. Since it is a matte formula, it can eventually dry out your lips if you wear it all day, so just make sure you moisturize your lips thoroughly once you take it off.

The shade "Belle" is a beautiful rosy berry shade. It is darker than I thought it would be, but I don't mind. This shade in particular goes well with basically every shade in the palette, and is especially perfect for the fall season. It applies and wears the same way as the Snow White one I just mentioned, so the formula is consistent through and through. Out of the 6 shades, this is going to be the most versatile for every skin tone and for every occasion.

    1. Some of the shades are bold, but they're also so wearable at the same time- I say you should go for it! If you're looking to try out more colorful shades, I recommend putting it on the lower lash line for just a fun pop of color. It's simple, but adds so much in my opinion! Thanks for reading, Elizabeth! :) I hope you have a great weekend!
