"Till Forever Falls Apart" by Ashe & Finneas // Song Review

"Till Forever Falls Apart" is a stunning ballad carried by grand, sweeping melodies and cinematic storytelling. The collaboration between close friends and longtime creative partners Ashe and Finneas feels both intimate and expansive, grounded in the kind of emotional sincerity that defines their individual work and deepens when they come together.
With metaphors of natural disasters and the world crumbling around them, the song captures the timeless feeling of finding love that can weather any storm. Released in early 2021 as the third single from Ashe's debut album Ashlyn, it arrived at a moment when everything happening around the world truly did feel fragile. It was especially a timely anthem for a time that was overcome with so much uncertainty, grief and chaos - in that context, the message behind it felt especially pertinent.
"If the tide takes California, I'm so glad I got to hold ya and if the sky falls from Heaven above, oh, I know I had the best time fallin' into love," they each sing, "We've been livin' on a fault line and for a while, you were all mine, I'd spend a lifetime givin' you my heart, I swear that I'll be yours forever, 'til forever falls apart".
Ashe said in a statement to Billboard that writing this song made her realize that "...accepting the hard truth is strangely comforting," She continued, "This song, while sounding like the most romantic song I’ve ever written, is about acceptance as well. The lyrics, 'I'm gonna love you knowing we don't have forever' is about how it’s more important to have had the chance to love than to stay in love."
This song was born out of learning to accept the chaos and uncertainty that life can bring, but knowing that the love you give and receive is forever. Even when the future feels entirely uncertain, that kind of connection can ground you. Whether it's physically living on a fault line in Los Angeles or dealing with the broader impermanence of life, "Till Forever Falls Apart" embraces the need to choose love in spite of it all.
"So, this is it, that's how it ends, I guess there's nothing more romantic than dyin' with your friends," Finneas sings in the second verse, "And I'm not sorry for myself, I wouldn't want to spend a minute lovin' anybody else".
This song also serves as such a beautiful extension of the friendship and creative partnership Ashe and Finneas have had for several years. After first working together on her 2019 breakout hit "Moral of the Story", this song marked their first time working together as co-performers. Now years later, they have announced their new joint collaborative project, which is is set to be released in September 2025 under the band name The Favors. If "Till Forever Falls Apart" is any indication of what's to come with their future collaborations, it is going to be something truly special.
