it's time to let go of this endless summer afternoon is a playlist curated around the end of summer as we enter into the transitional period of the seasons. These are some of my favorite songs to listen to this time of year when it isn't quite fall yet, but not summer anymore either. It is named after a lyric from a song called "Hard Feelings/Loveless" by Lorde. Melodrama is one of my favorite albums ever, which I have written about many times over the years. To me, it perfectly captures the end of summer feeling.

So much of this playlist is also comprised of some of my other favorite artists, like The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Haim and more. I am also working on reviews for the tenth anniversaries of The 1975's debut album and Pure Heroine by Lorde, so I have been listening to those albums in particular a lot lately and felt like they fit the theme of its time to let go of this endless summer afternoon so perfectly. 

Songs like "The Good Side" by Troye Sivan, "Caramel" by 5 Seconds of Summer and "Here Comes The Fall" by Fiona Silvers also inspired the sonic direction I went in with the curation of this playlist. I also love Taylor Swift's cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" - it is the perfect time of year to be playing that song for obvious reasons!

The final song of this playlist is Phoebe Bridgers' cover of John Prine's "Summer's End", which is simultaneously so beautiful and so heartbreaking at the same time. It felt especially fitting to end it with that song because of the lyric "....summer's end came faster than we wanted".

GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo // Album Review

GUTS  is the highly anticipated sophomore release from Olivia Rodrigo , following up her massively successful debut album, SOUR , in 2021 . To have the level of success she has had right out the gate with her first-ever single "driver's license" in early 2021 is so rare and she quickly became one of the most notable pop artists to debut this decade so far. There are a lot of songs that I have come to really enjoy on this album, some of which are among my favorites of the entire year so far. When comparing  GUTS *  to  SOUR *,  they are alike in a lot of ways, both sonically and aesthetically. In my opinion,  GUTS  builds upon the foundation she and her producer/co-writer, Dan Nigro, set in place with  SOUR  really well. Olivia is in such an interesting and unique position as an artist right now. SAFIYA NYGAARD x COLOURPOP COLLECTION REVIEW 🦇♥

For my first post of  the new year, I wanted to share my thoughts on one of my favorite makeup releases, the Safiya Nygaard x Colourpop collection ! Safiya is one of my favorite YouTubers and Colourpop is my favorite makeup brand, so this is a really exciting collaboration!  Safiya consistently makes a variety of really high quality and interesting videos that mainly focus on beauty and fashion. I admire how much time and research she puts into what she does, all of the work that is put into these videos really shows in the finished product. If you haven't watched her channel before, I really can't recommend it enough!  In August 2017, she started a series called " bad makeup science ", which is the basis of this new Colourpop lipstick collection. boy by Luke Hemmings // EP Review

After stepping out in 2021 with his first solo venture outside of his band, 5 Seconds of Summer , Luke Hemmings is back again with a stunning new EP called  boy . Much of this seven song EP picks up where his debut album,  When Facing The Things We Turn Away From ,   left off with looking back on his youth trying to process all that he went through, while still looking onward into the man he is becoming. Every song was produced and co-written with  Sammy Witte , who Luke also worked with on his debut album. Sonically, they also build upon the foundation of that album throughout boy .
