Meeting Cardi B at Spin Me Round Records // Am I The Drama? Promo Tour

As a part of her seven-date record store promo tour celebrating the release week of her long-awaited sophomore album Am I The Drama?, Cardi B made a stop at one of my favorite local record stores for a special meet and greet event. Spin Me Round, located in the Palmer Park Mall in Easton, Pennsylvania, was the second stop, the day after her album was released. It was so exciting to see one of my favorite local record stores included on this tour and I couldn't believe that she was actually in person for this event!

Spin Me Round has built a massive platform across TikTok and Instagram and have definitely garnered a reputation as one of the most popular independent record stores in the North East. This is always one of my go-to record stores to visit for Record Store Day, early listening parties, and vinyl shopping in general, so it was cool to be able to see an artist as big as Cardi there!

The price of admission was only about $15 and preordering a CD copy of Cardi's new album from Spin Me Round's website served as the ticket to meet her. It sold out very quickly, so I'm glad I was able to grab a copy when I did! It's hard to believe that it has already been seven years since the release of her iconic Grammy-winning debut album Invasion of Privacy in 2018, but she's finally back with such a fantastic follow-up to that record. I can't wait to see what else Cardi has in store for the rest of this album cycle.

This is the first time Spin Me Round have hosted an event at this scale, and I am hoping that they continue to do more in the future. Meet and greet tours and in-person promo events like this kind of feel like a lost art in a lot of ways, so I love seeing an artist like Cardi bringing it back. She has been doing a ton of really fun promo surrounding this album and I love that she is taking a fan-first approach with all of it. Most importantly, the music itself is genuinely really great and is proof that quality over quantity is always the best approach with creating any art.

The meet and greet was supposed to start at 2 pm, but Cardi ended up being fashionably late, so the event didn't officially start until around 4:30 pm. There were well over a thousand people lined up to meet her and she stayed all night until she took a photo with every single person. Cardi recently also announced her fourth pregnancy, so I really admire her dedication of staying so long and making sure she met every single person that bought her album. After nearly seven hours of waiting in line, I finally got to meet her and I love how the photo turned out! She looked so beautiful in person and I love that she did different poses with everyone! 🫶 Although I did end up waiting a very long time, a lot longer than expected, it was definitely worth it. I also got to meet a lot of great people while waiting in line too, so the time ended up passing pretty quickly and was a very fun experience overall.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out Cardi's newest album Am I The Drama? + support your local record stores! If you haven't already, follow Spin Me Round across social media and be sure to check out their massive music selection both in-store and online!
