couldn't wait to turn 15, then you blink and it's been ten years is a playlist curated around 25 songs that I love and really resonate with me in a lot of ways. The title comes from a lyric of Lorde's "Secrets from a Girl (Who's Seen It All)", which is a song I have always loved from the moment I first heard it, which I have found myself relating to it more and more with every passing year. 

The day I'm posting this is also my 25th birthday, so it felt like the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate this milestone! It was so hard to narrow it down to just 25 songs - if you've seen some of my past playlists, you'll know they usually have no less than a few hundred songs on each - but I really tried to choose the songs that mean the most to me. 

I have always really resonated with "Secrets from a Girl (Who's Seen It All)", along with the rest of Lorde's music throughout my life for the past decade. Her music plays such a major role in my life and shaped so much of who I am today. It always feels like there she has written a song that expresses exactly how I'm feeling at every stage of my life, which is a connection I will always cherish. "Secrets from a Girl (Who's Seen It All)" is a song in particular that I have been thinking a lot about over the past few months. "Everybody wants the best for you, but you've gotta want it for yourself, my love" and "Your dreams and inner vision, all your mystical ambitions, they won't let you down, do your best to trust all your rays of light" are two lyrics that are incredibly impactful sentiments and words of wisdom that have been on my mind a lot lately. Both really stand out to me as mantras that I'm definitely going to keep in mind over the next year (and beyond). 

This song was written as a love letter to her younger self, the 15-year-old girl who wrote "Ribs". That is another one of my favorite songs ever and is also included as the final song as the playlist too. In an interview with Spotify Lorde wrote, "I was listening to 'Ribs' and thinking about who I was at that time in my life. I was so apprehensive about what was to come. I took the two chords from that song and reversed them. This is future me talking back and saying... 'it's going to be okay'".

"Dream of Mickey Mantle" by Bleachers, "As It Was" by Harry Styles, "Give Yourself A Try" by The 1975, "Change" by Lana Del Rey, and "clementine" by Halsey are among the other highlights from this playlist that I adore and feel so connected to on a personal level. The sequence of "All My Heroes" by Bleachers, "New York" by St. Vincent, "Perfect Places" by Lorde and "The Archer" by Taylor Swift is also really special to me as well. All of those artists and many more are frequently included on this playlist and have served as the soundtrack of my life in a lot of ways.


I also thought it would be fun to include some of the polaroid photos I took today too! 🎂 I have been taking film photos for years and years but for some reason I never posted any of them on here before, which is something I definitely want to change! I plan on starting a series sharing some of my film photography very soon!

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (isolated vocals) by Billie Eilish // 2024 Record Store Day Exclusive Vinyl

Happy Record Store Day! One of my most anticipated releases for the Black Friday drop this year was a special version of Billie Eilish 's incredible album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT , which features only her isolated vocals. You can only slightly hear parts of the instrumentals in the background because she recorded the songs without headphones, but this variant of the album puts a major emphasis on only her gorgeous vocals. It's a really cool concept, it almost sounds like you're in the studio with her hearing it recorded live.  There is so much depth to her vocal comps with all of the hidden vocals and ad libs that are hidden underneath the production. There are so many small details that otherwise get buried in each song that now get the chance to fully shine. SAFIYA NYGAARD x COLOURPOP COLLECTION REVIEW 🦇♥

For my first post of  the new year, I wanted to share my thoughts on one of my favorite makeup releases, the Safiya Nygaard x Colourpop collection ! Safiya is one of my favorite YouTubers and Colourpop is my favorite makeup brand, so this is a really exciting collaboration!  Safiya consistently makes a variety of really high quality and interesting videos that mainly focus on beauty and fashion. I admire how much time and research she puts into what she does, all of the work that is put into these videos really shows in the finished product. If you haven't watched her channel before, I really can't recommend it enough!  In August 2017, she started a series called " bad makeup science ", which is the basis of this new Colourpop lipstick collection. Wicked // Target Exclusive Vinyl Soundtrack featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo & Part 1 Film Review

After many years of waiting, the Wicked film adaptation is finally here and it is everything I ever hoped it would be and more! It was truly the most amazing and magical film, I loved every single second of it. The entire cast was incredible and perfectly cast in their parts, but Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande  were truly born to play these roles. They both manage to find a way to pay homage to all of the Elphaba's and Glinda's that came before them, while still being able to carve out their own spaces in Oz history.  Wicked  details the origin story of the beloved characters from  The Wizard of Oz ,  specifically Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the South. Their origin story is complicated and tragic at times, but it is also filled with so much love. The Best Songs of November // New Music Friday!

"Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call" // Bleachers Is it too soon to say this is one of Bleachers ' best songs yet? Because it is! "Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call" is a song draped in nostalgia and really captures some of the melancholy feelings this season can bring. I never heard a song quite like this though, it evokes such a specific emotion in me that I don't even know if I can fully describe, but just feels like something that I needed to hear. All of the best Bleachers music does that for me though. While it is technically a Christmas song, it isn't overtly festive, which is a genre that is so hard to pull off but Jack and the rest of the band did it perfectly. I have been looking forward to finally hearing this song for a couple of years and it came at the perfect time.
