when will spring come again? // playlist

when will spring come again? is a curated playlist to soundtrack the latter half of the winter and the early glimpses of spring on the horizon. These are songs that have been inspiring me lately, especially during this in-between stretch of the season.

The title was inspired by a lyric from Djo's 2025 song "Fly" as well as the line that directly follows; "I need the bloom". It has always felt so evocative of this very specific time of the year and the emotions it can bring along with it, especially capturing the feeling of winter (hopefully) starting to fade. That song also embodies a sense of being at a crossroads at the start of a new phase of life, wanting to make a change and step into something different, which is also a very relevant theme for the start of the year.

The mood and tone of Djo's The Crux as a whole became a major launching point for the rest of the songs I chose, along with the imagery of "Glory of the Snow" by Clairo and the messaging of the re‑recorded version of "I'm Ready To Move On / Wild Heart Reprise" by Bleachers. Ultimately, I gravitated toward songs that felt soft and introspective, and that embodied the feeling of being on the precipice of a new stage of life. Songs by Finneas, Suki Waterhouse and Not For Radio are also prevalent throughout the playlist, among many others.

The beginning of spring, and those first small signs of it appearing, is always incredibly inspiring for me. The changing of the seasons in general is something that shapes so much of my work and my personal listening habits year after year.

when will spring come again? is one of many playlists I have curated and shared through the years, although I haven't shared a dedicated post for one in a while, I definitely want to continue making this a recurring series here. I have so many ideas, and I'm constantly updating my Spotify page with new themed playlists. I'm always looking for new ways to highlight my favorite songs and artists, especially the ones that have been shaping my current rotation. It's also such a fun challenge to build an entire collection of songs around a specific lyric, mood, or prompt.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I have!
